My name is Alex van Oogen and although I have only been employed in the Marketing department since January 16th 2014, I have actually been involved with Voiceworks from the very beginning. As a designer, I developed Voiceworks’ branding and have remained responsible for its improvement throughout the years. Due to the growth enjoyed by Voiceworks in recent years, a position opened up for a full time Art Manager and this is the function that I now fill. My primary responsibility is ensuring the continuity of Voiceworks’ brand in image, form and ‘tone of voice’. All this must always be directly in line with Voiceworks’ vision.
My working days vary greatly; from designing promotional materials for events to refining the existing branding. As Voiceworks is developing quickly, new challenges are always around the next corner. My position also overlaps in many areas with interface design, which is something that I would like to get more involved with to strengthen the collaboration between departments. The Marketing team is, naturally, the most fun team to work in at Voiceworks. We are serious about our tasks and work hard, but there is always time for a laugh with colleagues. As a designer, it is always satisfying to see that your designs are well received by colleagues and clients alike.
The Marketing department
The Marketing department is broadly responsible for Voiceworks’ PR policy, Internet marketing/social media, market research, internal and external events and all internal and external marketing and communications. A day in the Marketing department is comparable to a day in the telecom industry: every day is different. The main benefit of working in a relatively small organisation is that you are not responsible for a single marketing task. In fact, the many aspects involved with a position in Marketing give you the opportunity to develop a broad range of skills and enjoy a lot of variety in your working tasks.
