My name is Jose Luis Vergara and I have been working for Voiceworks since February 2015, when the office in Malaga was kicked off. Since then, I feel really lucky to see how this section in Spain is growing and improving as an important developing center for Voiceworks. It is not only the international vision of a foreign company which integrates colleagues from different nationalities but also the AGILE technics we learn, the SCRUM abilities, and the goal of quality software (more than quantity) that gives Voiceworks a plus for being an interesting place to learn, grow and work.
In my current position as Senior PHP Developer, I am mostly responsible for improving and developing new features for the web-based operational platform for Voiceworks and its customers (Operator). This platform is not a simple backend but also a powerful tool that integrates with other telecommunications systems. What I like most about working for Voiceworks is feeling appreciated as a professional and being encouraged to provide our own solutions, always in a proactive and open-minded atmosphere. There is always a big space to grow personally and enrich yourself with new technologies.
The Development Team in Málaga.
As one of the 4 members who started the Málaga team, I felt responsible for coaching new colleagues and for improving our internal organization. Now we are more than 12 colleagues in Malaga and better organized and integrated with our workmates in Almere. We are not “Malaga team” but more part of the big family of Voiceworks developers. Not only that. Now we have a Scrum Master and 2 QA members, as well as 2 product owners. We are divided in Squads, mixing programmers in Holland and Spain and focusing in specific work areas. In my case I belong to the Partner Squad, which focuses in Operator core, Cloud products management and the Webshop. Communication is indeed an important part of our work, and it is a daily challenge to cooperate with our colleagues in Málaga and Almere to achieve the best solutions. Sometimes it is not easy, but my colleagues help me to manage it with a smile and good spirit. And on Fridays, of course, there is also “borreltijd”!
